The Dean's Dialogues
Welcome to The Dean’s Dialogues, a new series of virtual conversations in which Dean Adam Chilton engages UChicago Law faculty and invited scholars on timely legal topics and new research.
Designed to connect scholarship with current events, the series invites the Law School community — and the public — to hear directly from experts as they explore questions at the forefront of law and policy.
Recordings of each dialogue will be added to this page as they become available.
Episode 1: Litigating Originalism
AUGUST 5, 2025: In this inaugural episode of the University of Chicago Law School's Dean's Dialogues, Professor William Baude and Clinical Professor Judith Miller join Dean Adam Chilton for a conversation about how lawyers can incorporate, and respond to, originalist arguments during litigation. This practice-centered, mini-seminar is based on their award-winning "Litigating Originalism" course. You can find the resources referenced during the discussion HERE.
Episode 2: Innovating Legal Education with AI
NOVEMBER 4, 2025: Dive into this special discussion with Dean Adam Chilton and legal tech expert Kimball Dean Parker, ’13. Together, they explore the innovative themes behind the Law School’s new AI Lab—an immersive seminar where students learn not just to use, but to create cutting-edge legal technology.
This fall, law students in the AI Lab will research renter rights, build an accessible legal database, and develop an AI chatbot to help tenants and landlords nationwide navigate complex housing laws. Learn more HERE.
