Emeritus Lecture: Democracies and International Law

Democracies are in trouble around the world, and this has extended to the international arena, where authoritarians are growing bolder. Can international law do anything about it? The answer is a qualified yes, and this talk will document the challenges of our moment, as well as provide some examples of regional legal regimes that have defended democracy.
