The Legacy of Patsy Takemoto Mink '51

Dr. Wu will deliver a presentation about Patsy Takemoto Mink's legacy in law and politics. Mink received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1951. She later became the first woman of color to be elected to U.S. Congress, where she served 24 years and was a principal author of Title IX, which was eventually renamed the Patsy Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act.

Dr. Wu's current book project, a collaboration with Dr. Mink, explores Patsy Mink's political career. After the presentation, both Drs. Wu and Mink will be available for Q&A.

This event is part of 2021 APALSA Week, a week-long series of programming that highlights the stories of AAPIs in the legal field.
