ACS to Honor Geoffrey Stone, '71, for Scholarly Excellence
The American Constitution Society’s Chicago Lawyer Chapter has named Geoffrey R. Stone, '71, the Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor of Law, as the inaugural recipient of the Geoffrey R. Stone Award, established in his honor.
ACS Chicago created this new award to “recognize progressive scholars who demonstrate those qualities exemplified by Professor Geoffrey R. Stone: scholarly excellence, the ability to imagine how society might be more just and more equal, and the determination to use the law and one’s scholarship to creatively and strategically make the imagined real.”
Stone will be presented with the award next month at the 2025 “Legal Legends Luncheon” hosted by ACS Chicago as part of its 20th anniversary celebration.
Another UChicago Law legend will also be recognized at the event: Herschella G. Conyers, ’83, the former Lillian E. Kraemer Clinical Professor in Public Interest Law.
Conyers is one of three 2025 recipients of ACS Chicago’s Abner J. Mikva Award—named in honor of the late Hon. Abner J. Mikva, ’51—which recognizes Chicago-area lawyers and judges who have made extraordinary contributions to progressive legal causes.
The luncheon will be held at the Union Club on September 10 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. (CDT). Additional information about the event is available at the registration site.
