Tours of the Law School
Interested in a tour of the Law School for youself or as part of a group? We have a number of options available to you to learn more about our community.
If you are a prospective or admitted student, we encourage you to visit us while classes are in session so that you can experience our academic environment. You are welcome to come any time during business hours and sign in at the Admissions Office for a self-guided tour, but we strongly encourage you to register for a visit to our campus so that we know you are coming and so that we can make your visit to the University of Chicago Law School as helpful and informative as possible. If you would like to join us for a tour of the Law School, we have several options available to you (please see below). In addition, you are welcome to sit in on any of the First Year Required Courses or First Year Electives available during your visit (with the exception of the Legal Research and Writing Courses). When ready, please fill out the registration form to let us know what day you will be visiting. We ask that you fill out the form at least one week prior to your planned visit. Upon registration, you will receive an email confirmation, including links to directions and parking.
LL.M. and J.S.D. Prospects: If you are planning to apply, or have already applied, to either the LL.M. or J.S.D programs and are interested in visiting the Law School, DO NOT COMPLETE the aforementioned registration form. Prospective LLM candidates are welcome to visit. There are no formal LLM visit programs since so many candidates live far away; however, LLM candidates are free to take advantage of the same opportunities listed below which are provided to the JD candidates. If an LLM admissions staff member is available during your visit, that person will try to answer questions. However, we expect that you will have read the information on the LL.M. website so that we will not need to discuss material that is already available to you.
- Student-led Tours: Student-led Tours of the Law School for the 2017-2018 academic year will be available on Mondays and Fridays when classes are in session during the Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters beginning on Friday, November 3, and ending on Monday, April 30. Due to Admitted Students Weekend, there will be no student-led tour on Friday, April 13.
Tours will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m. and leave from the Student Services Suite on the 3rd floor of the library. Student-led tours are only available while classes are in session. Please check our Academic Calendar prior to planning your visit.
Audio Tour and Self-Guided Tour: In addition to student-led tours, you are always welcome to visit and take a self-guided tour or the audio tour of the Law School. Our office is open year round, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., with the exception of major holidays. Sign in at the Admissions Office on the third floor. You can pick up a self-guided tour of the Law School or you may take an audio tour. Our audio tours are a fun and interactive way to learn about the Law School and are available at the library circulation desk on the second floor. Our Admissions Administrator will be available to answer questions about the Law School.
Virtual Tour: Unable to visit the Law School? Not a problem. Learn more about our community through our virtual tour.
Interested in bringing a group to visit the Law School? Please fill out our group tour form at least three weeks prior to your planned visit. We will be in touch to discuss the arrangements of your visit. Please note: requests submitted without ample time for planning may not be possible.
