Room IV

Presenting student organizations: Black Law Students Association Education and Child Advocacy Society
Wednesday, February 6, the Black Law Students Association and the Education and Child Advocacy Society will be co-hosting a lunch panel, “ChicagoCRED.” Chicago CRED (Creating Real Economic Destiny) was created in 2016 by Emerson Collective, a social impact organization founded and run by Laurene Powell Jobs, along with former U.S. Education Secretary and Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan. Changing the crime-ridden narrative of the South and West Sides of Chicago, CRED supports and trains men that are most likely to be the targets or perpetrators of crime, to secure a quality life. Duncan will be joined by the directors of the Youth Peace Center to discuss ways in which transformative initiatives have been implemented to keep young black men out of prison and in the workplace.
