Open to Law School students only

Join Professors Chilton and Kim as they have an open dialogue about the tort system. The United States has perhaps the world’s most well-developed torts system. This system includes single plaintiffs bringing cases seeking relatively small amounts of damages and thousands of plaintiffs bringing cases seeking billions in damages. But despite the considerable resources spent on these cases, it is still debatable whether the torts system is an effective vehicle for making us safer or a way that life is made more expensive without delivering either justice or safer.

Please RSVP as their is limited space available for this event. This will be in the Green Lounge Conference Room (located on the side of the cow, towards the Dean's Wing). Bombay Wraps will be available, including halal, gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options for registered participants.

The Martha C. Nussbaum Student Roundtables support the University of Chicago’s longstanding commitment to free expression and open discourse. The roundtables were endowed by Professor Nussbaum in 2019 with the intent of bringing together students and faculty with diverse, and often disparate ideological viewpoints in a respectful discussion. Students are encouraged to engage and confront ideas that may be different from their own with a spirit of civil and vigorous debate.
