Assistant Attorney General joins ACS in a conversation concerning his career in public service and experience at the Department of Justice.

Hampton Y. Dellinger was nominated by President Biden to serve as Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Policy and, in October 2021, confirmed for the position by the U.S. Senate.  Mr. Dellinger’s prior public service was in North Carolina where he was a Deputy Attorney General in the state Department of Justice and, later, Legal Counsel to the Governor’s Office.  He has been a partner at regional and national law firms, a legal analyst for national media outlets, and authored articles for the Harvard Law Review and the North Carolina Law Review.  His past pro bono work includes representation of an international coalition of soccer players protesting gender discrimination at the 2015 World Cup and assisting community groups seeking the removal of Confederate monuments from courthouse entrances and other prominent public spaces. Mr. Dellinger received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from Yale Law School.
