The American Constitution Society Presents: 1L+ Curriculum (Civil Procedure): The Legacy of Ashcroft v. Iqbal
Room I
1111 East 60th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60637
In 2009, Ashcroft v. Iqbal transformed the pleading standards for all complaints in federal courts, yet the case’s impact extends far beyond Civil Procedure classrooms across the country. Join Professor Alexander Reinert of Cardozo Law - who argued Ashcroft v. Iqbal before the Supreme Court - and Rachel Meereopol of the ACLU's Racial Justice Program - who argued Turkmen v. Ashcroft before the Supreme Court - as they discuss the impact of Iqbal on Muslim Americans and the intersection between race, national security, and the law. Professor Emily Buss will moderate the conversation.
The American Constitution Society’s 1L+ Curriculum offers law students at UChicago an opportunity to grapple with material presented in the classroom in a challenging way.
This event is open to the public.
