Geoffrey Stone, a distinguished law professor and the former dean at the University of Chicago Law School, should now be able to update the works of John le Carre, the British master of the espionage novel.

Last summer, his long-ago colleague at the school, President Obama, picked him to be part of a five-member Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies. 

They might have called this the Snowden Commission since it was very much a function of former contractor Edward Snowden’s leaks of classified materials related to foreign intelligence work by the National Security Agency.
