Reverse Tie-Dye + Fundraiser

FUNDRAISER

We're encouraging donations for the Hyde Park Art Center, a local organization that supports young and emerging artists on the South Side. Donations are appreciated and will enter you into a raffle to win prizes, but donations are not required to attend the event. Further, you will still be entered into the raffle if you donate but do not attend. Donations should be made directly to HPAC here: https://www.hydeparkart.org/donate/

Please send us proof of donation, ideally as part of your initial RSVP. If you'd like to RSVP now but donate later, feel free to upload proof of donation via the same Google Form. The deadline to be entered into the raffle is April 30 at 11 a.m. The form accommodates multiple donations, for example, if you donate now but wish to add on later.

We have 2 raffle prize tiers.

• Grand Prize (2 winners, each $20 donation = 1 entry): Winners may choose one of either an Apple HomePod mini or a LARQ water bottle, in the winner's color of choice. Prize will be shipped directly to the winner's address.
• Mini Prize (4 winners, each $5 donation = 1 entry): Winners may choose one of the following items. Prize will be shipped directly to the winner's address.
  • Piecework 1,000 or 500 piece puzzle: https://pieceworkpuzzles.com (Not all puzzles are eligible, but let us know your top 3 if you win and we'll try to make it happen.)
  • Paint by Numbers (rolled canvas): The Leap of the Rabbit by Amadeo de Souza or Still Life with Guitar by Juan Gris
• If you donate $20 or more, please indicate in your RSVP how you would like your donation allocated (e.g., for a total $40 donation, either 2 grand prize tickets or 1 grand prize ticket and 4 mini prize tickets, etc.).

REVERSE TIE-DYE

For the reverse tie-dye activity, just bring a dark shirt, sweatshirt, tote bag, or other clothing item or fabric, a medium container, rubber bands, some household bleach and gloves, and if you'd like to try the "shibori" technique, some cardboard and large binder clips. These are probably things you have around the house already.

We'll show you how to create incredible patterns by pulling dye from your clothing. Black will develop orange patterns, and dark blue will look grey. See some tutorials below:
