Nathan Chapman was named the Pope F. Brock Associate Professor in Professional Responsibility at the University of Georgia School of Law in 2020. Chapman pioneered a historical account of the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment as a provision that reinforced the rule of law against every branch of the federal government, with respect to the deprivation of any right to life, liberty or property, anywhere in the world. His foundational papers in this area include: Due Process as Separation of Powers, Due Process Abroad and Due Process of War. Chapman holds degrees in law and theology from Duke University. He litigated in the D.C. office of WilmerHale and clerked for the Honorable Gerald Tjoflat of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
William Baude is a Professor Law and the Aaron Director Research Scholar at the University of Chicago Law School, where he specializes in constitutional law and interpretation. He has written extensively in this area. Two notable articles of his are Is Qualified Immunity Unlawful? and the forthcoming Is Quasi-Judicial Immunity Qualified Immunity? He received his BS in Mathematics from the University of Chicago and his J.D. from Yale Law School. He clerked for then-Judge Michael McConnell on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Chief Justice John Roberts on the United States Supreme Court. Before joining the Chicago faculty, he worked at Robbins Russell LLP in Washington, D.C.
