Join fellow alumni to celebrate Adam Chilton’s appointment as dean of the Law School! Dean Chilton will sit down with Professor Vince Buccola '08, for a timely discussion on “Precedent Terms”. 

An embarrassing feature of orthodox accounts of business contracting is that they have no room for transactional lawyers. Precedent Terms pins the ubiquity of (expensive) legal advice on a social practice familiar to every 1L—normative reasoning from imperfect analogs of debatable authority—identifying conditions under contracting parties are apt to resort to precedent and speculating about its future in an AI-saturated world.
