Human rights comprise an integral part of modern international law. Governments around the world have ratified human rights treaties and incorporated human rights law into their legal systems, yet the persistence of extrajudicial killings, religious persecution, and political repression illustrates that such rights are routinely and blatantly violated. With Guantanamo Bay likely to remain open, the US withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council, and journalists being vilified, jailed, and murdered, how can we make human rights law more effective in 2018 and beyond? What will it take? Featuring Professors Mary Ellen O'Connell and Eric A. Posner.
