The Enduring Constitutional Vision of the Warren Court
From declaring racial segregation and the prohibition of interracial marriage unconstitutional to ruling that people accused of a crime must be given a lawyer to holding school prayer unconstitutional, the Supreme Court under Chief Justice Earl Warren transformed American constitutional law. Drawing on his new book co-authored with Professor David Strauss, Democracy and Equality: The Enduring Constitutional Vision of the Warren Court, Professor Geof Stone will discuss the often harsh debate over the Warren Court's legacy and its approach to constitutional interpretation.
