Michael Carrillo and Janet Marvel will be speaking about their careers in intellectual property.

Michael Carrillo is the Managing Partner of the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. Michael is listed among The Best Lawyers in America and the World Trademark Review 1000. He serves as legal counsel for IP and other vital business law matters for established and emerging companies alike.

Janet Marvel is a partner at Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson LLP. Janet protects brands, copyrighted works, and domain names throughout the world. She has been charged with protecting the trademarks of many world-famous brands, such as Ford, Pepsi, Harlequin (romance novels), and Mattel. 

This convening is open to all invitees who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures.
