Presenting student organizations: Food and Drug Law Society

Please join the Food and Drug Law Society (FDLS) and Jack R. Bierig for a discussion about the current regulatory rules on approval and marketing of drugs in the United States and the tension between those rules and First Amendment considerations. The discussion will center on whether current First Amendment jurisprudence in the context of highly regulated industries is sound.

Jack R. Bierig is a partner in the law firm of Sidley Austin LLP where he has headed the firm's health law practice. Mr. Bierig teaches courses in Health Law and Policy and in Food and Drug Law and Policy at the Law School and the Harris School of Public Policy. He is a founder and past president of the Center for Conflict Resolution and has been the chair of the Legal Section of the American Society of Association Executives and president of the Illinois Association of Health Care Attorneys. He has written and lectured widely on health care, antitrust, and food and drug law issues.
