James J. Chandler is the Chief of the Special Litigation Division at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Prior to joining the CCSAO, he was Deputy Chief of the General Law Bureau at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. He also spent his first ten (10) years of practice in the private sector primarily in tort defense. He has extensive experience first chairing jury and bench trials as well as binding and non-binding arbitrations and mediations.
James coached Loyola’s Thomas Tang Moot Court Team from 2000-2012. He also sat on Loyola University of Chicago School of Law Alumni Board of Governors from 2010-2016. In 2002 and 2003, he served as an appellate advocacy instructor at the Loyola as well and currently teaches a course titled, “The Deposition Advocacy Workshop.”
James earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2000 and currently has admission to the State Bar of Illinois, the U.S District for the Northern District of Illinois General Bar, and the U.S District for the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar.
