ACS and MLSA Presents: Beyond Civ Pro: Ashcroft v. Iqbal's Impact
Room IV
1111 East 60th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60637
Presenting student organizations: American Constitution Society Muslim Law Students Association
Twelve years ago, Ashcroft v. Iqbal changed the pleading standards for all complaints in federal courts, yet its impact reaches far beyond what's included in our 1L casebooks. Join Professor Alexander Reinert of Cardozo Law, one of the lawyers involved in the suit, and Professor Shirin Sinnar of Stanford Law as they retell the lost story behind Iqbal, the case's impact on Muslim Americans, and the complicated intersection between race, security and the law.
The Muslim Law Students Association would like to thank our sponsor, Debevoise and Plimpton.

Public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19, particularly for those unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures.
