Join ACS and Professor William Birdthistle to discuss the causes and implications of the off-cycle election results last Tuesday! Professor William Birdthistle is a Professor from Practice at the Law School. Before joining the Law School, he served as Director of the Division of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 2021-2024. He is the author of Empire of the Fund: The Way We Save Now, and co-editor of the Research Handbook on the Regulation of Mutual Funds. Prior to the SEC, Birdthistle was Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, clerked for the Honorable Diarmuid O'Scannlain on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and practiced in Ropes & Gray's investment management group. Professor Birdthistle received his BA summa cum laude from Duke in 1995, his JD from Harvard Law School in 1999, and his MA in history from the University of Chicago in 2021.
