The annual Brennan Center Jorde Symposium was created in 1996 to sponsor top scholarly discourse and writing from a variety of perspectives on issues that were central to the legacy of William J. Brennan, Jr.

For the 2024 Jorde Symposium, Professor Lepore will reflect on the philosophical origins of the Article V amendment process as “the epitome of the eighteenth-century idea of progress,” considering what became of this optimistic vision of constitutional change and what it means for constitutionalism today.
