Welcome to the Law School
Faculty, staff, and current students welcomed the Class of 2022 to the Law School community with a "Clap In" in the auditorium on the first day of Orientation. Afterward, students heard remarks by Dean Thomas J. Miles, Dean of Admissions Ann Perry, and Dean of Students Charles Todd, and later attended a series of introductory sessions.

On the second day of Orientation, students participated in "Hearing One Another," a program designed to teach students to listen and communicate effectively across differences.

Students also attended a series of mini Greenberg Seminars, where they had the opportunity to hear from different professors, including Martha Nussbaum, Douglas Baird, Saul Levmore, and others. After a full day of activities on Tuesday--including attending a session on free expression and taking a Pledge of Professionalism--students had a chance to unwind at an event hosted by the Law School's student affinity groups.

During the Kapnick Leadership Development Initiative portion of Orientation, students participated in a series of modules teaching leadership and interpersonal skills.

The Kapnick sessions, which were held this year on UChicago's Main Quad, included a challenge course, improv, and sessions on public speaking and dealing with interpersonal conflict.

Welcome to the Class of 2022!

The University of Chicago Law School community welcomed new students during an eight-day orientation that included a variety of activities and social events designed to celebrate the incoming class, build community, and introduce students to the culture of the institution.

Students attended panels and talks on free expression, inclusive leadership, the intellectual life of the Law School, and other topics; honed interpersonal and leadership skills through the Kapnick Leadership Development Initiative; took a Pledge of Professionalism; attended a variety of evening social events; and celebrated at the Entering Students Dinner, where Professor Omri Ben-Shahar offered this year's welcome remarks
