Michael Kuppersmith graduated from the University of Chicago in 2007 with an A.B. in public policy and a minor in near Eastern languages and civilizations. Before law school, he interned at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the U.S. Department of Education. During the summer after his 1L year, he interned for Judge Bates at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The next summer, he was back in Washington again as a summer associate at Crowell & Moring.

At the Law School, Michael was a Comment Editor and the Topic Access Editor for the University of Chicago Legal Forum. While he worked on the journal, the two symposium topics were "Civil Rights and the Low-Wage Worker" and "Crime, Criminal Law, and the Recession." Michael was also the President of the Law School Trivia Contest, and one of his favorite law school events was when the winning student team challenges the faculty all-stars during Admitted Students Weekend.

His favorite Hyde Park food was the Caribbean cuisine at the Calypso restaurant, especially the jerk chicken and the plantain nachos. He was frequently found causing a ruckus in the stands at the Chicago Maroons football and basketball games as he is a proud member of the Phoenix Phanatix, the student cheering section at the University.

Here's what Mike had to say about his favorite law school class:

"Federal Jurisdiction was the most intellectually-challenging class I took. Mr. Mortara really pushed us to think creatively about all of the topics, and it led to some fascinating in-class digressions."
