Ariel Scotese

Associate Director for User Services Library

Ariel Scotese became the Associate Director for User Services at D’Angelo Law Library in 2020. Prior to joining the D’Angelo Law Library, Ms. Scotese was the Access Services and Research Librarian at Cornell Law Library. At Cornell, she was also the Assistant Director of the Cornell Legal Research Clinic and Adjunct Professor of Law. She was the 2017 Judith M. Wright Fellow at D’Angelo Law Library.

Ms. Scotese received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Chicago, a JD and a LLM in Taxation from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, and a Master in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Information School. Prior to becoming a librarian, Ms. Scotese was general counsel for a Class III short line railroad and represented her client in a variety of matters including federal and state regulatory compliance, tax planning, civil litigation in the Northern District Court of Illinois, and before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Illinois bar and the New York bar.

Ms. Scotese is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) and the Chicago Association of Law Libraries. She was the past president of the Association of Law Libraries of Upstate New York (ALLUNY).
