10/13

Open to the public

Please join the University of Chicago Undergraduate Law Review on October 13th in HM 140 at 6:00pm for our Autumn guest speaker event, "Acknowledging the Realities: Youth/Police Encounters on Chicago's South Side."

The UCULR is partnering with Law School Professor Craig B. Futterman, founder of the Civil Rights and Police Accountability Project of the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic, for a presentation on the implications of the confrontations between the young people and the body of law enforcement here in Chicago, especially in light of the many recent tragedies and tensions.

Professor Futterman specialized in civil rights lawsuits, focusing on matters involving police brutality and racial discrimination. He has litigated a number of noteworthy cases, including Jaffee v. Redmond, 116 S.Ct. 1923, a federal civil rights suit, where Mr. Futterman successfully represented the family of an African American father shot and killed by a suburban police officer.
