Global Trade and Human Rights Among Emerging Powers

5/18

Open to the public

The last decade has seen a rapid increase in the number of major global economic players from the developing world. Having weathered the global economic crisis better than much of the West, these emerging economic powers continue to transform the dynamics of international trade, and economic politics. How are emerging markets positioning themselves within global markets? Will they form partnerships to challenge the Western dominated international institutions? How will these nations balance worker rights and income inequality with the pressures of constant growth? To discuss these questions and more, we are joined by a panel of leading experts, including Ms. Vuyiswa Tulelo, Consul General of South Africa in Chicago, Mr. Damien Ma, Fellow at the Paulson Institute and lecturer of Global Initiatives in Management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and Mr. Brian Citro, Lecturer in Law and Acting Director of the International Human Rights Clinic at University of Chicago Law School.

Lunch will be provided.

This event is part of the International Policy Program's "Deep Dive: Emerging Powers" series.
