In July 2014, "in light of recent events nationwide that have tested institutional commitments to free and open discourse” on college campuses, President Robert J. Zimmer appointed a distinguished faculty committee, chaired by Professor Geoffrey R. Stone, to draft a policy statement for the University of Chicago articulating the University's commitment to freedom of expression. Although the work of the Committee is ongoing, Professor Stone will discuss the issues that must be considered in drafting such a statement. Lunch will be provided.
