Bigelow Practical Writing Presentation: Cross-Examination Outlines
Guest presenter Katherine M. Swift will talk about writing outlines for cross-examinations. A 2006 graduate of the Law School, she is currently an associate at Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP. Ms. Swift has also clerked on Seventh Circuit for Judge Richard D. Cudahy and the Northern District of Illinois for Judge Mark R. Filip.
Cross-examination outlines are critical tools for trial lawyers, and the skills required to draft good ones translate to many areas of legal writing. Ms. Swift will discuss some basic principles for drafting these outlines, which apply to both depositions and trial cross examination.
This is part of a series of presentations on aspects of legal writing in various practical settings throughout the winter and spring quarters. All students are welcome. Lunch will be provided.
