Rebecca Lin
Biography
Rebecca Lin is a JSD candidate at the University of Chicago Law School. Her research quantitatively examines the diffusion, convergence, and divergence of antitrust law across jurisdictions, with a focus on the global governance of competition enforcement. She studies how legal norms travel through international and domestic networks and how these processes produce disconnects and asymmetries between law on the books and law in action across economies.
She also develops the Antitrust Lab (www.antitrustlab.org), an open access empirical research platform dedicated to quantitative comparative antitrust research. The project builds and maintains datasets on international merger control decisions from 22 jurisdictions since 2009, as well as U.S. state and territorial antitrust statutes and constitutional provisions in 56 jurisdictions since 1776, enabling longitudinal and cross-jurisdictional empirical analysis of antitrust policy.
Before joining the University of Chicago Law School, Rebecca received her JSM (2023) from Stanford Law School, where she served as an Associate Editor of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. Prior to her doctoral studies, she practiced antitrust law, focusing on cartel investigations, merger review, and cross-border competition enforcement.
