FedSoc Presents: A Conversation with Judge David Porter (CA-3)

David James Porter is a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Grove City College in 1988 and his J.D. from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in 1992. During his legal studies, Porter served as a notes editor of the George Mason Law Review. After graduating from law school, Porter served as a law clerk to Judge D. Brooks Smith of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania from 1992 to 1994. He then joined the law firm Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney, where practiced in the fields of regulatory, constitutional, and commercial litigation. From 1989 to 1992 he was a member of the Federalist Society; he rejoined in 1995 and has since been President of the Pittsburgh chapter.
This convening is open to all invitees who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional. Public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19, particularly for those unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures.
