Boulder announced Wednesday that Sherry J. Daun has been selected as the new independent police monitor.

Daun was one of three finalists for the position, which has been vacant since Joey Lipari left the role in September.

According to a release, Daun “is a highly skilled investigator and former attorney who understands the important role that community oversight plays in fostering constitutional, respectful and accountable policing. She is also an exemplary program manager with an impressive track record for achieving desired performance and customer service.”

She will assume the role starting Aug. 21.
