Sapna Kumar '03 Voted 'Faculty of the Year' by University of Houston Law Center Students

University of Houston Law Center Professor Sapna Kumar has been selected as "Faculty of the Year" for the 2012-13 academic year by a vote of the entire student body.

"Having the chance to teach such fantastic students is an honor in itself," Kumar said, "but to be recognized by the students is indescribable. I am thankful that the University of Houston Law Center has given me the opportunity to play a small role in these students' future careers."
"Our faculty provide knowledge, insight, dedication, and powerful tools that will help us all immensely in the present and future," said outgoing-SBA President Megan A. Daic in announcing the winner. "It is truly an honor to have such amazing faculty, including Professor Kumar, who can help educate us for our future careers. Congratulations, Professor Kumar. We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication."

Kumar joined the faculty in 2009, teaching Patent Law, Administrative Law, and Property.
Prior to coming to the Law Center, she clerked for the Honorable Judge Kenneth F. Ripple of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit; conducted research as a faculty fellow at the Duke University School of Law/Duke Center for Genome Ethics Law & Policy; and practiced with two law firms. She earned B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from the University of Chicago.
