Robert Brubaker ’72 Elected Chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law

Robert Brubaker ’72, partner in Porter Wright’s Environmental Law Practice Group, has been elected as the Chair of the American Bar Association's 6,000-member Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law.

The American Bar Association ("ABA”) Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law focuses on law and developments affecting the nation's basic infrastructure industries, such as electricity, public water supply, telecom, internet, cable, airlines, railroads, and oil and gas pipelines. The public interest is the prime factor in the development of law related to these keystone industries, and the Section serves as an impartial forum for ABA members from all backgrounds, including government, corporations, law firms, and others dealing with infrastructure industry law and policy.

"This is a tremendous and well-earned honor for Rob – his commitment to the legal profession coupled with extensive experience in these industries are an ideal match for such a significant role with the ABA. Rob joins an impressive team of leadership at the ABA and we are confident he will serve the Section and the ABA with distinction," said Robert W. (Buzz) Trafford, Porter Wright's Managing Partner.

Mr. Brubaker's practice in environmental law spans nearly 40 years. In addition to his role with the ABA, he is a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Coal Council. Mr. Brubaker is coeditor of the Government Institutes’ Ohio Environmental Law Handbook. He has been listed for over a decade in The Best Lawyers in America®, has been listed in the International Who’s Who of Environmental Lawyers, is recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers®, and was named one of Ohio’s leading environmental lawyers by Chambers USA.
