Rachel Partain, ’02 Named One of American Bar Association's 2012 Nolan Fellows

Rachel Partain, an Of Counsel of Caplin & Drysdale, has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2012 Nolan Fellowship awarded by the American Bar Association Section of Taxation to a select group of outstanding young tax lawyers across the nation. The Nolan Fellows were awarded at the ABA Tax Section Midyear Meeting in San Diego on February 18, 2012. This fellowship program was named after the late Jack Nolan. Mr. Nolan served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Tax Policy and as Chair of the Section, and distinguished himself through his high-profile tax reform initiatives.

Ms. Partain has been with Caplin & Drysdale since 2011, and assists clients with their civil tax disputes. Prior to joining the firm, she practiced tax controversy and litigation at an international law firm. An active member of the ABA Tax Section since 2006, Ms. Partain presently serves as Chair of the Current Developments Subcommittee of the Court Procedure & Practice Committee.

One of six awardees, Ms. Partain's one-year fellowship will include the waiver of meeting registration fees, a small stipend and assistance with travel to Tax Section meetings.
