When Noni Ellison joined Tractor Supply Co. earlier this year as general counsel, she not only took up the reins of the legal department. She also took on the responsibility of overseeing the rural lifestyle retail giant’s environmental, social and governance strategies. 

Now, Ellison is spearheading an effort to accelerate the company’s ESG and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. In late September, Tractor Supply announced a series of new DEI and ESG goals.

Within the next five years, the Brentwood, Tennessee-based company aims to double the number of employees of color at the manager level and higher, double the number of stores where employees mirror the communities they serve, increase spending with diverse suppliers by 35% and spend 30% more on programs and education for Black and African Americans. 

On the environmental and sustainability front, Tractor Supply has committed to net zero carbon emissions across all of the company’s operations by 2040.
