Marla Messing, ’89, Joins USA Gymnastics Board of Directors

Fontaine, Messing join USA Gymnastics Board of Directors

USA Gymnastics this month welcomes new members Larissa Fontaine and Marla Messing to its Board of Directors.

A former elite and NCAA champion gymnast at Stanford University, Fontaine brings experience as an executive at some of the world’s most respected companies, having served in product and business development leadership roles at Google and YouTube. She most recently was Chief Product Officer at Grupo QuintoAndar, an international real estate company. As an athlete, Fontaine was a 1994 World Championships team silver medalist and the 1998 NCAA vault champion at Stanford University, where she earned a bachelor’s in English and mechanical engineering, a master’s in mechanical engineering, and an MBA.

Messing boasts a deep background as a sports executive, including serving as President and CEO of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, VP and Executive Director of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Committee, Interim CEO of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and CEO of USTA Southern California. Currently, she is serving as the President and COO of the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championships. Messing earned her JD from the University of Chicago Law School and a bachelor’s from the University of Michigan.
