Justin Herring, ’04, Joins Mayer Brown as Partner

Mayer Brown Adds Ex-NYS Cybersecurity Leader As Partner

Mayer Brown LLP said Wednesday that a former executive deputy superintendent in the cybersecurity division at the New York State Department of Financial Services has joined the firm as a partner in the Empire State.

Justin Herring is joining the firm's cybersecurity and data privacy, financial services and regulatory enforcement and global investigations and white collar defense practices, according to Mayer Brown.

Herring told Law360 Pulse in an interview Tuesday that he accomplished the goals that he set for himself going into the public sector, and now he can use the knowledge he gained about the cybersecurity regulatory space to help companies navigate the area.

"I have the experience doing cyber crimes investigations, including major complex investigations across financial cyber crimes and national security cyber crimes, but I also have the experience of leading a regulator, a regulatory division focused on cybersecurity regulation," he said.
