Joseph Ostoyich, ’91, Joins Clifford Chance as Partner

Clifford Chance Hires Former Baker Botts Antitrust Pros in DC

Clifford Chance LLP said it has hired two former Baker Botts LLP partners who will continue their antitrust practices in Washington, D.C.

Joseph Ostoyich and William Lavery are Clifford Chance's new antitrust litigation partners and specialize in competition and other antitrust matters, the firm said in an announcement on Tuesday. The new partners have almost 50 years of combined experience in antitrust litigation and related issues.

Ostoyich will lead Clifford Chance's U.S. antitrust litigation practice and bring experience representing large private companies on antitrust litigation and investigation matters, the firm said.

Some of Ostoyich's experience includes defending corporations from U.S. Department of Justice investigations. He previously was lead trial counsel for Patterson Cos. Inc., which was accused of illegal price-fixing and other violations in 2018, the firm said.

Clifford Chance said that and other experience has given Ostoyich a command of price-fixing and monopolization litigation issues, as well as with class actions and merger matters. Ostoyich earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
