John Norbert Tierney, '68, 1943-2021

John Norbert Tierney

April 26, 1943 - August 3, 2021. John grew up in South Shore. He graduated from St. Ignatius H.S. ('61); Holy Cross College ('65); & University of Chicago Law School ('68). John left his successful Chicago law practice to serve a 30-year tenure as President & CEO of the advertising firm "Dick Orkin's Radio Ranch". In 1979, he & the Radio Ranch moved to Los Angeles. John also had a diverse law practice including civil rights, real estate & entertainment. He proudly served on the Pitzer College Board of Trustees. In his free time, John could be found in Griffith Park hiking/bicycling with friends, relaxing at a Russian bath house, or out on the open road on his motorcycle. His Fox Hunting equestrian prowess earned him a "Master of the Hunt' designation. He was a consummate host, always welcoming & engaging. He was also a voracious reader, gifted writer & storyteller.
