Jean-Jacques Cabou ’03 Elected to National Criminal Defense Bar Association Board of Directors

After many years of service to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the criminal law field, Jean-Jacques Cabou has been elected to the NACDL Board of Directors.
Cabou, a partner in Perkins Coie LLP’s Investigations and White Collar Defense Group, has dedicated much of his career to criminal law and continuing legal education. Cabou served on the Board of Governors of NACDL’s Arizona affiliate, the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice (AACJ), from 2009-2011 and has contributed extensively to both the AACJ and NACDL’s amicus programs, authoring and reviewing numerous amicus briefs on behalf of both organizations. Presently, Cabou is counsel of record for NACDL in its amicus efforts before the U.S. Supreme Court in Elashi v. United States.
In addition to his work with the NACDL, Cabou has taught and lectured extensively on criminal law, serving as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago Law School and at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Cabou was also on the faculties of the 2011 NACDL Advanced Criminal Law seminar in Aspen, CO, and at the 2012 NACDL West Coast White Collar Conference in Lake Tahoe, CA., Cabou has also spoken at Arizona’s annual Judicial Conference and at the Arizona State Bar’s “White Collar Crime Update.”
Cabou, a graduate of The University of Chicago Law School and the University of Virginia, focuses his practice on state and federal civil forfeiture, racketeering laws, criminal post-conviction work and other proceedings. He has represented clients before the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals, United States District Court and Arizona’s trial, appellate and Supreme Courts.
