Ira Wender

Ira T. Wender, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died in his Manhattan home on October 18, 2022, aged 95. Born January 5, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, he grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and New York City, where he attended the Fieldston School. He attended Swarthmore College and received his JD from the University of Chicago Law School in 1948, followed by a LLM in Taxation from New York University Law School in 1951. A gifted lawyer and educator, Mr. Wender served as partner at several distinguished law firms and was a founding partner of the firm Wender, Murase & White. He was Assistant Director of the Harvard Law School International Program in Taxation and co-authored a foundational text, Foreign Investment and Taxation (1955). He served as Chairman of C. Brewer & Company from 1969-1974, President and CEO of A.G. Becker Paribas from 1978-1982, and Chairman and CEO of Sussex Securities from 1983-1985. He concluded his career at the law firm Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler until his retirement.
