How I’ll Remember the Law School

Coffee Mess, Café D’Angelo, the Law School Musical … these are some of the traditions that 3Ls mentioned when we asked them about their favorite memories of their time at the Law School. Sprinkle in a few anecdotes about professors and classmates and we have a full range of bittersweet reflections from the Class of 2025 as they prepare to graduate in just a few days.
“One of my favorite memories was the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association’s 2024 Winter Retreat. I worked closely with my co-social chairs to organize our annual two-day retreat. It was a lot of work, but the payoff was extremely worth it. Through it, I found my Law School community and many of my close friends.” — Brian Wang

“I most enjoyed playing the piano in the band for the Law School Musical. Despite the hectic nature of rehearsals leading up to the performances, it was a rare instance in which I could collaborate with classmates on something other than law.” — Nathan Hensley

“By far, my favorite memories from the Law School come from my experiences with the Latinx Law Students Association. I deeply enjoyed building community with other latin(x)s across the Law School, particularly during our annual retreat.” — Diego Quesada
“I absolutely loved my [Bigelow] section, so anything we got up to together was a blast. One moment that stands out is when a handful of us got to go over to Prof. Baird’s home for one of his legendary dinners. Other moments that I will remember is just getting to be so genuinely excited for my peers as they achieved (all the) things that they had worked super hard towards (summer job offers, clerkships), even getting to cheer them on as they picked up new hobbies.” — Julianne Kelleher

“One of my favorite memories was presenting oral arguments to the Seventh Circuit on behalf of one of the Employment Law Clinic’s clients. The panel included Judge Easterbrook, who ended up authoring a unanimous opinion in favor of our client. Getting the opportunity to field questions from him and the other judges on the panel and have the case come out on our side was both rewarding and unforgettable.” — Rex Dyches

“I really enjoyed my time working at the Kirkland & Ellis Corporate Lab. I feel that the work there and the mentorship of Prof. Zarfes and Prof. Avratin really helped me in many ways and set me up for later success. Also, getting on the Business Law Review journal was a great and helpful experience, especially as I was able to get published twice, which was very exciting.” — John Burroughs
