Elizabeth Weiswasser, '92, Becomes Global Litigation Co-Chair at Weil Gotshal & Manges

Weil Adds 1st Woman Co-Chair To Litigation Group

New York City-based international firm Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP has added a third co-chair to its global litigation department, making her the first woman to be named to the position, the firm said Monday.

Elizabeth Stotland Weiswasser, who will continue to serve as co-head of Weil's patent litigation and life sciences practices, joins current co-chairs of the global litigation department David Lender and Jonathan Polkes, according to the firm.

Weiswasser said in an interview that the chance to help guide the firm's global litigation team is "incredibly meaningful and exciting."

"We have the opportunity to take what we have been doing in the patent litigation space and build it out to the global litigation practice and continue to cement Weil litigation as a destination for high-stakes litigation across various practice areas," she said.

Weiswasser started working at Weil as a summer associate in 1991, the firm said. After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School in 1992, she clerked for Federal Circuit Judge Alan D. Lourie for two years before rejoining Weil in 1994, her LinkedIn profile says.
