Home ownership has long been considered a part of the American Dream. In the 20th century, the mortgage interest deduction (MID) has incentivized that piece of the dream. But as part of the Republican tax overhaul, the MID is on the chopping block.

Tax law scholar and assistant professor at the Law School at the University of Chicago, Daniel Hemel, joined Kerri Miller to break down the good and the bad of the MID, and what Americans can expect to happen to the real estate market without it.
