The Class of 2023 Celebrates a Strong Commitment to Pro Bono Service

Michael Stone, ’96, legal director at the Center for Disability & Elder Law, delivered a keynote address.

This year’s graduating class contributed more than 15,100 pro bono hours throughout their time at the Law School, the second year in a row that the graduating class has worked over 15,000 hours. Seventy-six members of the Class of 2023 completed the Pledge to work at least 50 pro bono hours. Thirty-two members of the Class completed more than 250 hours, earning Pro Bono Honors recognition.

Krysta Kilinski, ’23, earned the Pro Bono Award of Excellence, logging more than 850 hours throughout her time in Law School. Susan Curry, senior director of public service and pro bono, and Hannah Fine, assistant director of public service and pro bono, presented additional public interest awards. Isabelle Argueta, ’24, earned the 2L Public Service Award and Ale Clark-Ansani, ’23, was honored with the James C. Hormel Public Service Award. The Student Organization Pro Bono Award went to the Latinx Law Students Association.

Stone highlighted the importance of engaging in pro bono work, not only as students but also throughout their entire professional career, particularly for those who will work at law firms.
