Class of 2021 Graduating Student Awards

The Class of 2021 celebrated their accomplishments at the Class of 2021 Graduating Students Awards Celebration on May 19.

The following awards were presented:

The Ann Watson Barber Outstanding Service Award is given to the graduating students who have made exceptional contributions to the quality of life at the Law School. It was established in 1978 in memory of Ann Watson Barber, Law School Registrar from 1962 to 1976.

Edwin F. Mandel Award is given to members of the graduating class who, during their Law School careers, have made exceptional contributions to the Law School’s clinical education program, in both the quality of the work done and the conscientious exercise of their professional responsibilities.

Kirkland & Ellis Corporate Lab Award of Excellence recognizes Corporate Lab students in 2020-21 who, in the opinion of Lab faculty, have demonstrated consistent leadership and excellence in corporate and transactional practice.

The Entrepreneur’s Advocate Award is given to the graduating student who has made an exceptional contribution to the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship, its clients, and the cause of entrepreneurship.

Pro Bono Service Initiative Award of Excellence is given to the graduating student who has completed the most hours of law-related volunteer work.

Faculty Hooders were selected by the Class of 2021 to virtually hood graduates at the Diploma and Hooding Ceremony:

  • Genevieve Lakier, Assistant Professor of Law and Herbert and Marjorie Fried Teaching Scholar
  • Jonathan Masur, John P. Wilson Professor of Law, David and Celia Hilliard Research Scholar, and Director of the Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz Program in Behavioral Law, Finance and Economics
  • David Strauss, Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Jenner & Block Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic

The Graduating Students Award for Teaching Excellence is given to honor teaching excellence at the Law School. The Class of 2021 chose:

  • David Strauss, Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Jenner & Block Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic

The Clinical Teaching Award is given to a member of the clinical faculty to honor outstanding teaching. The Class of 2021 chose:

  • Sarah Konsky, Associate Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Jenner & Block Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic

The Class Award is given to a member of the faculty or staff who made a unique and substantial contribution to improving the quality of student life and who enriched the spirit of community within the Law School. The Class of 2021 chose:

  • Jonathan Masur, John P. Wilson Professor of Law, David and Celia Hilliard Research Scholar, and Director of the Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz Program in Behavioral Law, Finance and Economics
