Andrew J. Trask, AB '94, JD '98: Litigator Moves to Shook, Hardy & Bacon

Leading Class Action Litigator Moves to Shook San Francisco

Prominent class action attorney Andrew J. Trask has joined forces with litigation powerhouse Shook, Hardy & Bacon. Trask, who has defended more than 100 class actions, will focus on representing product manufacturers and sellers, among others, in class litigation. He moves to Shook from McGuireWoods, where he served as Co-Chair of McGuireWoods's Class Action Group.

"My goal is to dispose of class actions early and, if they progress, to not only win on the merits but to keep a case from becoming a giant class action. More companies are at risk than ever before," said Trask about class action lawsuits.

Trask has long been an authority and thought leader in class actions. He has co-authored several books on class actions, including "The Class Action Playbook," published by LexisNexis, and "Betting the Company: Complex Negotiation Strategies in Law & Business," published by Oxford University Press. At McGuireWoods, he maintained the Class Action Countermeasures blog, which discussed the strategic considerations involved in class action defense.

Trask earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and his BA from the University of Chicago. He is admitted in California and the District of Columbia.
