Off-Campus and Non-Standard Event Request Form

This form is for all LSSO events, LLM events, and other law student events that are different from a regular, on-campus lunch talk at the Law School. Please complete this form if you wish to have something that is non-standard, such as an evening or weekend event at the Law School, or if you wish to have an off-campus event.

Please note that we should receive your request at least 3 weeks in advance. Any request received less than 3 weeks in advance will be denied. We strongly encourage 3-4 weeks if possible.

A large-scale off-campus or non-standard event should always be requested before the start of the quarter or at least 6 weeks in advance. Large scale events often require a contact with a restaurant, might involve 50+ people, or require other multi-effort logistical support from the DOS or Law School Events Office.

Please do not advertise your event until you receive approval.

Required Language

For any event in-person this year, your event advertising must include the following language:

This convening is open to all invitees who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional. Public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19, particularly for those unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures.

As of March 4, 2022, face coverings are optional for UChicago students, employees, and visitors inside University facilities. LSSO event organizers may not require masks for participation in your events. Your communications could include:

“This is a mask-optional convening.  We strongly encourage unvaccinated individuals and those preferring to wear masks to do so.”
