The State of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession, featuring Collette Brown '13
As law firms and their corporate clients expand the definition of diversity beyond women, racial/ethnic minorities, and openly LGBT lawyers to include groups such as veterans, what is the potential impact for the more traditional diversity groups? Do fewer resources and efforts get directed to the traditional groups? Is diversity and inclusion a zero-sum game? Does it have to be?
Please join IILP for a special Veterans Day Symposium on the State of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession where the legal profession will have its first open discussion about the impact of an expanding definition of “who’s diverse.” The Symposium will be held in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, November 11th at Baker & McKenzie LLP.
And, as lawyers across the country are coming to expect from IILP’s Symposia, we’ll also have an outstanding lineup of speakers addressing some of the most cutting edge and difficult topics facing the legal profession today:
• Collette Brown – “Diversity in Law Schools”
• Sharla C. Toller – “The Call to Action Ten Years Later: A Look at the Effects on Retention of Women and Racial Minorities at Law Firms.”
• Brian J. Winterfeldt – “The Diversity Experience: A Path to Inclusive and Productive Workforce”
• Richard Meade – “Life Cycle of Diversity Programs”
• Jen C. Won – “Perspective on Lawyering in A Non-Native Language”
• Melinda S. Molina – “Fisher v. University of Texas: Surviving the Scrutiny in a Post-Fisher World”
• E. Macey Russell – “The Decline in African American Law Partners: A Wake Up Call
The program will begin at 1:00 PM and run through 6:00 PM, followed by an informal networking reception.
