The Food & Drug Law Society (FDLS) presents the Opioid Crisis & the Government's Response.

The opioid crisis has grown into a public health emergency. In 2017 alone, over 70,000 people died due to a drug overdose. How did we get here? What are the courts and lawmakers doing in response? James Lott, founder of Fiduscript and graduate student at the Harris School of Public Policy, will detail the events that may have led to the current crisis. Along the way, James will talk about how policy and regulatory changes on both the state and federal level have tried to address the crisis, leading to opportunities in innovation and entrepreneurship.
